Mrs. Maud Ellen Poindexter, 88, of Stephens died Tuesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lois Renfro, 815 Russell Ave. El Dorado, after a brief illness. A member of a pioneer Stephens family, Mrs. Poindexter became ill December 27 and remained in the intensive care center of an El Dorado hospital for 23 days. She had been removed to Mrs. Renfro's home Monday afternoon prior to her death. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Mt. Prospect Methodist Church near Stephens. Burial will be in the church cemetery by the Camden Funeral Home. The body was to be carried to the family home at Stephens Wednesday afternoon to remain there until service time. She was the widow of W. M. "Uncle Bill" Poindexter. She was a Methodist. In addition to Mrs. Renfro she is survived by three other daughters, Mrs. Roy Staggs, Overton, Tex., Mrs. M. C. Edmunds, Longview, Tex., and Mrs. S. J. Weeks, Plain Dealing, La.; a son, Chester E. Poindexter, Ogemaw; two brothers, Duet sawyer, Stephens, and Luther Sawyer, Kingsland; 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. (El Dorado Times - February 7, 1968)
