Mr. Franklin 'Bo' Sharp, 75, of Newport died Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Jonesboro. He was born March 22, 1933 at Elgin Community, Arkansas, the son of Edmond Francis and Ruby Nell (Mitchell)Sharp. He married Miss Helen Douglas on Friday, May 13, 1955. Mr. Sharp had been a farmer, and a self-employed truck driver. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. Mr. Sharp was a veteran, serving during the Korean War. He enjoyed camping with his wife, and watching Cardinal baseball. Mr. Sharp is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Helen Sharp; one son, Robert Franklin "Bobby" Sharp of North Little Rock; three daughters, Karen Anderson and husband David of Diaz, Kathy Smith and husband Danny of Tuckerman, and Karla Stoner of Newport; one sister, Mary Hanley of McCrory; two half-sisters, Ruth Dunn of Tuckerman and Edith Wells of Shirts, Texas; and eight grandchildren, Bryan Anderson, Michael Anderson, Cody Sharp, Shane Smith, Corey Smith, Brook Anderson, Katy Stoner, and Meredith Sharp; and six great grandchildren, Ethan, Landon, Abby, Avery, Dustyn, and Whitney. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Cheshier Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Mrs. Helen (Douglas) Sharp of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at the age of 82. She was born October 28, 1937 in Newport, the daughter of Henry and Nora Ann Perrin) Douglas. She married Mr. Franklin “Bo” Sharp on May 13, 1955, and together they spent 54 years, and raised four children. Mrs. Sharp was a graduate of Tuckerman High School, and went on to earn her RN license. She worked as Director of Nursing for GPW and Rolling Hills Nursing Home. Mrs. Sharp enjoyed camping and working in her flower beds. She loved spending time with her family, especially when they brought watermelon! Mrs. Sharp was a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Franklin “Bo” Sharp; her parents; one brother, Henry Lee Douglas; and three sisters, Dean Hammock, Wilma Leonard, and Janie Garner. Mrs. Sharp is survived by one son, Robert Franklin “Bobby” Sharp of Atkins, Arkansas; three daughters, Karen Anderson and husband, David, Kathy Smith, and Karla Stoner, all of Newport, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren, Bryon Anderson, Michael Anderson and wife, Jamie, Brook Scoggins and husband, Keith, Cody Sharp and wife, Katy, Meredith Sharp, Kase Sharp, Shane Smith and wife, Amelia, Cory Smith, Katy Warren and husband, Dustin, Whitney Anderson, and Dustin Anderson; several great-grandchildren; and a lifetime of friends. Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Cheshier Cemetery with Mr. Bobby Sharp and Bro. Vance Penn officiating. Her grandsons are honored to serve as pallbearers, Bryon Anderson, Shane Smith, Dustin Warren, Keith Scoggins, Kase Sharp, David Anderson, Dustin Anderson, Ethan, Landon, and Avery Anderson. Due to COVID-19, masks are required for attendance to visitations and funerals at Jackson’s Funeral Home. Arrangements by Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.
