TIPTONVILLE, Tenn. -- Richard L. Brewer, 79, of Tiptonville died Friday, July 9, at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis.

Born at Memphis, he had lived in Tiptonville for six years. He had worked at AGRICO Chemical in Blytheville for 10 years and Humko Chemical Co. in Memphis for 12 years.

He was a Korean War veteran and had retired from the Marine Corps in 1967, after serving 22 years. He was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Joy Carver Brewer of the home; two sons, Richard L. Brewer Jr. of Santa Maria, Calif., and Ronald L. Brewer of Columbia, S.C.; two daughters, Candy Brewer and Sandy Curtis, both of Norco, Calif.; four stepsons, Tommy Carver of Pasadena, Texas, Hazen Carver of Houston, Jan Carver of Canyon Lake, Texas, and Sandy Carver of Memphis; five stepdaughters, Barbara Shaw of Wynne, Shirley Carver of Heber Springs, Carol Graves of Seabrook, Texas, and Mary Sam Miller and Bonnie Linsman, both of Paris, Tenn.; one sister, Betty Ann McCrory of Indiana; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Kernodle Funeral Home at Wynne, with the Rev. Dan Minton officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Cogbill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, Kan. 66601-1653.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
