Mrs. Kate Smith Curry, 88 of Stephens, died Saturday night in the Ouachita Hospital. She was the widow of Herbert L. Curry. Mrs. Curry was the daughter of the late William M. Smith, and Ann Eliza Criner Smith, pioneer residents of Stephens. She was a member of Mount Prospect Methodist Church, near Stephens. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mable Stephens of Camden and Mrs. Margaret Grayson of Stephens; one son, Sam A. Curry of Stephens; four grandsons, Don Stephens of Camden, Sam L. Curry, Duncan Grayson and Allen Curry, all of Stephens; one granddaughter, Mrs. William Dix of Memphis, Tennessee; one great grandchild, Shane Grayson of Stephens. Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Mount Prospect Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Proctors was in charge of arrangements. (Camden News - November 8, 1971)
