Mrs. Mattie Cole, 80, died at her home in Stephens at 5:25 p.m. Monday. The widow of Tom Cole, she had been a lifelong resident of Stephens. She was a member of the Mt. Prospect Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Roy Cole of Flint, Mich.; four daughters, Mrs. J. O. Trimble, Mrs. Lyle Haltom and Mrs. Carlyle Davis, all of Stephens, and Mrs. Norman Wesson of El Dorado; nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Prospect Church at 3 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. J. R. Sewell officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. Hugh Cantrell. Burial will be in the Mt. Prospect Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps. (The El Dorado Times - June 22, 1965)
