Hyner Cemetery
Chicot County,
Arkansas

Sadly only a handful of headstones are left here, although over 100 Italian immigrants are said to have been buried here between the years of 1896 & 1930. They had come to work on Sunnyside Plantation, and many died of malaria and other illnesses, with over 100 people dying within the first year after arriving. This information was found in the book, "Italians of Sunnyside 1895-1995, A People of Faith, of Hope, and of Love", Compiled & Edited by Elizabeth "Libby" Olivi Borgognoni
