Cecil Garland Long, 80, of Homewood, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011. He was born September 8, 1931, in the White Eagle Community, a son of the late Rosco Long and Bessie Hamilton Long.
Cecil was retired from Rock Island Railroad where he worked for 23 years. He was of the Baptist Faith.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virgie Dempsey Long of Danville; his daughter, Brenda Robertson and husband Danny of Homewood; his son, Gary Long and fiancée Linda Hughes of Casa; brothers, James Long and wife Georgia of Casa, Windle Long and wife Lou Ann of Perryville; four grandchildren, April Munn, John Robertson, Jenna Long, and Austin Long; and three great-grandchildren, McKinley Boyette, Ayden and Colton Robertson. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Hubbard and Dorothy Hance.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Welcome Home Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor C.W. Drye officiating. Burial will be at Hamilton Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. Pallbearers will be Charles Hance, Michael Hance, Lanny Hubbard, John Robertson, Clay Robinson, and Bobby Robinson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Abernathy, Raleigh Long, and Elton Cody.
