ISRAEL, Newton - Heart disease was fatal to Newton Israel, 73 year old resident of the Prairie Creek valley east of Rogers Sunday morning. He is reported to have been in excellent health previously. Sunday morning he arose as usual and after making the fires went back to bed. Shortly afterwards he was heard to be breathing heavily and passed away a few minutes later. Mr. Israel was a native son of Benton County and was born in the Prairie Creek community in 1858. He had lived in that vicinity all his life. His widow and other relatives survive him. Burial was made at Pace Chapel cemetery Monday.

Newton Israel, 73 years old and a member of one of the pioneer families of the eastern part of Benton county, died suddenly at his home on Prairie creek, seven miles east of Rogers. His death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Israel apparently had been in good health and was in Rogers Saturday. Sunday morning he arose at his usual time and kindled the fires and returned to his bed. A short time later members of the family noticed he was breathing heavily but thought he was asleep. A few minutes later it was discovered he was dead. Besides his widow, Mrs. Lula Walden Israel, Mr. Israel is survived by a sister, Mrs. Jobe Key of Rogers; a half-sister, Mrs. S.W. Allen, Grove, Okla. and three half-brothers, C.C. and Frank Pace of Rogers and Albert Pace, Pawhusha, Okla. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Pace's Chapel near Mr. Israel's home.
