HIGHFILL -- Doris Carter, 81, of Highfill died July 6, 2008, at Select Specialty Hospital in Springfield, Mo. She was born Feb. 22, 1927, in the White Oak community, to Mike Robert and Frances Willard Parker Elliott.
She was a former owner of Center Cafe in Gentry for 27 years. She was employed by Air Host at the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport. She was a member of Highfill Willing Workers, the Methodist Ladies and the Methodist Church. She was known for her pie baking for the Community Library Association in Highfill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Carter, in October 1993.
Survivors include a son; three daughters; a sister; three grandchildren; seven stepgrand-children; four great-grandchildren; 15 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Highfill Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Highfill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.today at Wasson funeral Home in Siloam Springs.
