The Rev. Charles George Carter, 86, died Thursday in a Warren hospital. Born Nov. 2, 1881, he had been a resident of Bradley County most of his life. He served over 45 years in the ministry. Having pastored many Missionary Baptist Churches in the Judson Association, the Rev. Mr. Carter was pastoring Mt. Lebanon Baptist church at New Edinburgh and Hopewell Baptist Church near Warren at the time of his death. He is survived by two sons, Paul Norman Carter, El Dorado and Herbert Carter, Warren; a daughter, Mrs. George Smith, Warren; four brothers, two sisters, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Emmasus Baptist Church near Warren. The Rev. W. O. Tomlin, the Rev. Harry Attebery and the Rev. Gordon Reddin will officiate. Burial will be in Moseley Cemetery under the direction of Frazier Funeral Home of Warren. (El Dorado Times - May 3, 1968)
