Mrs. Nancy J. Harber Dies at Home Near Here
Mrs. Nancy Jane McNeill Harber, life-long resident of this county, died at her home in the Flat Rock vicinity, seven miles east of here, Sunday night, at the age of 72.
She suffered impaired health several weeks ago and was taken to a Batesville hospital, where she spent several days, returning home some three weeks ago greatly improved. Since returning home she had been up and appeared to be recuperating rapidly. On Sunday night she suffered a sudden relapse and passed away with in a very short time.
Mrs. Harber was born at Pineville and spent her entire life in this immediate vicinity. In 1885 she was married to James H. Harber of this community. Ten children were born to this union, eight of whom survive. She united with the Methodist Church early in life and lived a devoted Christian life until called by death. She was one of this community's most beloved women.
Surviving are five daughters and three sons; Mrs. Minnie Langston, Mrs. Martha Savage, Calvin Harber, Clyde Harber, Mrs. Lesbia Langston and Mrs. Audie Gillihan of Calico Rock, Mrs. Mamie Heasley of Little Rock and Lawrence Harber of Melbourne and seven brothers, and sisters; Frank McNeill of Gould, Okla., Mrs. R. H. Wayland and S. E. McNeill of Calico; Clarence McNeill of Creswell, J. P. McNeill and Mrs. Alice Hall of Pauls Valley, Okla., and Mrs. Bell Scott of Viola.
Funeral services were held at Flat Rock church Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. W. Johnston, pastor of the Calico Rock Methodist church, assisted by Rev. Burl Long and Mrs. Ruth Jackson. Interment was in Flat Rock cemetery.
