John Jones Junior Dies Tuesday Morning

John Jones Junior, well known and highly respected citizen, died early last Tuesday morning, January 19, 1943, at his farm home, near Forty Four post office. He had been a sufferer from dropsy for several months, though he was able to be up until he was fatally stricken.

Mr. Jones was a life-long resident of this section, and was born within three miles of where he died. He was a devout member of the Methodist church and was one of the original members of the Flat Rock church, which he assisted in organizing.

The funeral was held at Flat Rock church Wednesday at 2 p.m., services being conducted by the pastor, Rev. Clarence Wilcox; burial being in Flat Rock cemetery. Deceased was 77 years of age.

He is survived by thirteen children, six by his first marriage and seven by his second marriage – Troy of Ada, Okla., D. A. of Pineville, Ark., Homer of Chicago, Ill., and Lawrence Jones of MeLean, Texas; Ralph Jones and Mrs. Oral Fountain of Forty Four, Ark., Mrs. Eunice Fountain of Wideman, Ark., Mrs. Evelyn Bars and Mrs. Mildred Hanks of Kansas, Mrs. Tressie Ivie of Pineville, Ark., and Mrs. Verlin Harris of Oxford, Ark.

Also surviving, are two brothers, and two sisters, Gideon Jones of Calico Rock, Ark., Billie Jones of Ola, Ark., Mrs. Matilda Estes of Gamaliel, Ark., and Mrs. Allie Wright of Lepanto, Ark.
