The Calico Rock Progress, Calico Rock, Arkansas, November 15, 1940:
Wm. E. Byram Dies in Hospital at Batesville
William E. Byram, aged 74, life-long resident of this section, died Wednesday night in a hospital at Batesville, where he had been under treatment the past few days. He had been in failing health for several months.
Practically all of Mr Byram’s life was spent on the farm where he was reared, seven miles east of here, in the Flat Rock community. He was one of the section’s most upright citizens and was held in high regard by all who knew him. He united with the Methodist Church early in life and lived a devout Christian life till called by death.
Surviving, are three brothers, S. J. of Carter, Okla., John T. and Arthur A. Byram of Melbourne and two sisters, Mrs. J. W. Yandell of Branson, Mo., and Miss Miranda Byram of Calico Rock.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Friday at Flat Rock Church, interment to be in Flat Rock Cemetery; services to be conducted by Rev. J. W. Johnston, pastor of the Methodist Church.
