Elbert Langston Dies at Home Near Here

Elbert Langston, aged 62, died at his home, five miles east of here, Saturday, after several days illness.

He was born and reared in the Flat Rock vicinity where he spent practically all his life. He was a devout member of the Methodist church and was one of the community's most highly respected citizens.

Surviving, are four brothers S. V., Wiley and Henry Langston of Flat Rock and Robert Langston of Brockwell, three sisters, Misses Nannie and Polly Langston of Flat Rock and Mrs. Jesse Speak of Gorby.

The funeral was held at Flat Rock church Sunday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. J. C. Wilcock and Rev. Burl Long. Interment was in the Flat Rock cemetery.

(Note: The double gravestone gives the impression that Matty was his wife. In fact, she was his sister and her name should have been inscribed as Matty (Langston) Speak. Matty Langston married Jesse Speak, April 10, 1926, in Izard County.)
