Ruth Lois Grooms McMillan, 93, of Batesville died Friday, December 18, 2009 at White River Medical Center.
She was born in Sulphur Rock, Arkansas on Wednesday, July 26, 1916 and was the daughter of Peter Lee and Ruth (Brown) Grooms. Ruth was a very independent woman and loved being an artist. She really enjoyed painting in watercolors, acrylics and oils. Some of her favorite pastimes were playing bridge and golf. She also liked archery, music and politics. Ruth was a retired sales person at an archery store and a member of the Central Avenue United Methodist Church. She is survived by two grandchildren: Victor Kerns III and Peter McMillan; three great-grandchildren: Tyler Kerns, Adam Kerns and Kalie Kerns; and one sister, Eula Croft of Batesville. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl McMillan; two brothers; and three sisters.
A private burial followed the services.
