1844 Virginia - 1888 Washington Co Arkansas
Susan Ashbrook's bio is on-going. We do not know her maiden name. However, Mrs Susan E Gardenier married John G Ashbrook in Washington Co, Ark on 25 January 1874. At this time Susan had one child Cordelia Gardenier age six years who was born in Texas. Before 1880, the family had grown my the birth of John S Ashbrook, Ephraim A Ashbrook and Charlotte H Ashbrook. In 1880, the family appeared in Pike Co, Arkansas. For some reason, they moved back to Washington Co where Susan died in 1888. John remained in Washington for a time having married again on 05 March 1892 to Miss M. J. Finn. Both were listed as of Wheeler, Washington Co, Ark. We assume that this is the same John Ashbrook by his age noted on the license. John's son, "Anson", married Susan M Jones on 06 June 1896 in Washington Co. Both were listed as residents of Sulphur City, of this County. The ceremony was performed by A. E. Jones, M.G., who was likely Susan Jones father. John G and Susan Ashbrook's youngest son was Walter C Ashbrook, born in 1883. He appears in Benton Co at Gentry in 1900 and working for a painter. His father was also in Benton County at this time.
