Billy Gerald Davis the son of Robert Davis and Jessie (Williams) Davis. Ruth Aline (Adamson) Davis the daughter of William Arthur Adamson and Rebecca A (Erwin) Milgrim Adamson.


Billy Davis

Billy Davis, 84, of Memphis, died May 31, 2011.

Born Feb. 22, 1927, in Walnut Ridge, he was the son of Robert and Jessie Williams Davis. He was a truck driver and a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Davis; a son, Robert Allen Davis; and a grandson, Shane Hibbs.

Survivors include four daughters, Madeline Grimoldby, Geneva, Ill., Brenda Hibbs, Walnut Ridge, and Ranella Lynn Bush and Melody Snooks, both of Memphis; two sons, Billy G. Davis Jr., Paragould, and Austin Davis, Memphis; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was Saturday at 11 a.m. at Old Military Cemetery with Lloyd Clark officiating. Bryan Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Ruth Aliene Davis, 78, of Memphis, died July 9, 2009.

Born Jan. 14, 1931, in Ravenden Springs, she was the daughter of Authur and Rebbecca Adamson. She was a member of the Getwell Church of Christ in Memphis.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Allen Davis; a sister, Faye Cunningham; and a grandson, Shane Hibbs.

Survivors include her husband, Billy G. Davis, whom she married Oct. 25, 1948; two sons, Bill Davis Jr., Paragould, and Austin Edward Davis, Memphis; four daughters, Madeline Grimoldby, Geneva, Ill., Brenda Hibbs, Walnut Ridge, RayNella Bush, Blytheville, and Melody Snooks, Southhaven, Miss.; two brothers, Octavis Adamson, Walnut Ridge, and Ray Adamson, Streator, Ill.; a sister, Gladys Hackworth, Houston, Texas; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The body was cremated. Graveside service was Sunday, July 12, at Old Military Cemetery near Sedgwick with Lloyd Clark officiating. Bryan Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 1, at 1 p.m. at Evergreen General Baptist Church. Anyone needing directions to the church can call Brenda Hibbs at 886-9057.
