Major Denton was born on October 31, 1932 and died in a plane crash in Arkansas on April 29, 1967. During his distinguished service in Vietnam he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, (awarded for "heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in an aerial flight); the Bronze Star Medal (the fourth highest award that can be issued and is awarded for bravery, acts of merit, or meritorious service); Air Medal with 15 Oak Leaf Clusters; and a Purple Heart.
