James Calvin Rice was born July 17, 1931 in Alco, Arkansas to Odis and Bertha Rice. Odis was the son of Gordon Lloyd Napoleon Posey and Dovey Lee Rice. Bertha was the daughter of Thomas Edward and Rosa California Ward.
He is survived by his wife May Rice of Rosie, Arkansas, his sister Helen Parsons of Mountain View, Arkansas, tow daughters, Cindy Rice-Hanlin of Mountain View and Michelle Lancaster of Alco, two stepsons, Michael Hooper of Batesville Arkansas and Randall Hooper of Rosie, Arkansas. He has five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
