Death: Dec. 3, 1892 Arkansas, USA
Came to America in 1847 with his parents Ignatz & Ursula (Dierenbach) Kiefer. Family records show they came from Pfaffenweiler, Germany.
The family settled in Indiana & among their prize possession's brought to this Country were plant cuttings which produced the fruit later known as the Kiefer pears & Kiefer grapes.
Married Walburga Ell 5 June 1848 & to this union they produced 15 children. Elizabeth, Ignatius E., Barbara, Vincent, Josephine, Mary Barbara, Francis, Catherine, Andrew, Dominic A.,George, Phillip G., Wilhelm "William" August, Rose, Adelaide.
Shortly after the death of Adeline 31 Aug. 1876 Matthias moved the family to Arkansas eventually settling in the Nolan Community.
Note Ignatius, Matthias, Walburga & William, are all on same stone.
