REED, John Riley - John Riley Reed was born in Barry county, Mo. near the Arkansas line January 23, 1854 and died July 12th, 1924, being 70 years, five months and nineteen days old. He lived all his life on the place where he was born and was never further south than Ft. Smith or further north than Peirce City, Mo. Many Benton county people knew Uncle John. He was married to Miss Nannie Long about 43 years ago. His wife, five children, three brothers, three sisters and several grandchildren survive him. The children living are: Andy, Jess and Austin Reed, Mrs. Alice Mills and Mrs. Velma Nesbit. He professed a hope in Christ over fifty years ago and united with the Church of Christ where he lived faithfully until death came to relieve his suffering. His illness extended over a period of two years and the family wish to thank everyone who assisted them in any way during his illness and death.

*This stone was mostly hidden under brush, and was well preserved from the elements. Obviously was a replacement stone, or one bought to mark the graves that formerly may have been unmarked, or marked with fieldstones.
