Billy Don Smith, 80, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center in Walnut Ridge. He was born August 28, 1937 in Black Rock to Virgil Austin and Mary Kathleen Courtney Smith. He was a model maker at Vulcan and a member of First United Methodist Church in Walnut Ridge. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Walnut Ridge and Black Rock.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Bonnie Smith; sister, Betty Baldridge; one infant brother; brother in laws, Harry Baldridge and Calvin Smith.

He is survived by brothers, Charles (Geneda) Smith of Doniphan, Missouri and Dickie Smith of Black Rock; sisters, Virginia Smith of Marion and Libby (Ron) Choate of Arlington, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Bonnie Nadine Smith, 64, of Walnut Ridge, died May 11, 2008, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born Feb. 18, 1944, in Walnut Ridge, she was the daughter of Ray Edgar and Myrtle Frisbee Brown. She retired after teaching school for the Walnut Ridge Public Schools for 30 years. She was a member of the Arkansas Association of Retired Teachers and the Eastern Star at Black Rock. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Walnut Ridge, where she was a member of U.M.W. Administration Board and was a former choir member, Sunday school teacher and decorator for the church.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Billy Don Smith, whom she married June 1, 1963, at Imboden; three brothers, Joe E. Brown, Black Rock, Jim R. Brown, Manchester, Mo., and Terry Brown, Mayfield, Colo.; and three sisters, Carolyn Corbett, Black Rock, Evia Breshears, Lonoke, and Henrietta Brewer, Picayune, Miss.

Funeral is Thursday at 11 a.m. in Higginbotham Chapel. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Walnut Ridge or to the American Cancer Society.

Visitation is tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
