J B Karnes, 60, of Cherry Valley, Route 7, died Sunday at his home. A soybean and rice farmer, he was a longtime resident of Cross County and a member of the Church of Christ. He was a member of the Rensellear Vann Lodge of Wynne and the Sahars Shriners Temple of Pine Bluff.

He was preceeded in death by one daughter, Vickie Ward.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Betty Barnes Karnes of the home; one son, Randy Karnes of Cherry Valley; one daughter, Kim Murphy of Wynne; his mother, Marie Karnes of Cherry Valley; two brothers, Thomas Karnes of Brandon, Miss. and Robert Karnes of Cherry Valley; five sisters, Peggy Cartiller of Hickory Ridge, Margaret Slocum of Dallas, Texas, Janeice Morrow of Rison, Ellen Hess and Laura Morris, both of Wynne; and four grandchildren.

Masonic graveside services will be this morning at 10 in Crosslawn Cemetery in Wyne with the Masonic Lodge officiating. Kernodle Funeral Home of Wynne is in charge of arrangements.

For those wishing to leave lasting memorials, the family request they be made to the Cross County Hospic Program.
