Mrs. Ella Wayland Dies Sunday Afternoon
Mrs. Ella Wayland, aged 80, a resident of this section the greater part of her life, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. A. J. Lane, at Wild Cherry, Sunday, August 5, 1945. She had been ill for several week and her death was not unexpected.
Mrs. Wayland was born in Missouri, but the greater part of her life was spent in this vicinity. She resided in Calico Rock until a few weeks ago when she was removed to Wild Cherry. She was the widow of the late James Franklin Wayland and a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Hudgens. Her father was a well known minister and physician of this section. She confessed religion at an early age and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in 1912. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Pineville.
Deceased was the mother of thirteen children, nine of whom survive, as follows: Mrs. A. J. Lane and Steve Wayland of Wild Cherry; Mrs. W. O. Davis of Brockwell; R. L. Wayland, M. F. Wayland, and C. C. Wayland of Tulsa, Okla., R. F. Wayland of DeQueen, Ark., Mrs. J. F. Drown; and Other Wayland of Oklahoma City, Okla.. Also surviving are 47 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Wayland Arbor Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. services being conducted by Rev. W. R. Watson, pastor of the Methodist Church of Calico Rock. The McGuire Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
