Jerry Hayden Guist, 88, of Fayetteville died Monday, August 27, 2007 at his home. He was born October 14, 1918 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Claude Isiah Guist and Charlottie Bell Spillers Guist.

He married the former Gletha Doloris Broner in Fayetteville in 1944. He was employed by Fulbright Wood Products as a shipping clerk for 26 years. He served in the US Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Euell L. Master and Chester Guist; sisters, Gertie Guess, Pearly Stout and Rachel Stout.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Gletha Doloris Guist of the home; 2 sons, Lawrence Guist of Greenland, and Jim Guist of Prairie Grove; 2 daughters, Linda Whitener of Jamesville, Wisconsin, Barbara Doss of Prairie Grove; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, August 30, at Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville, www.beardsfuneralchapel.com. Pastor Arnold J. Baughman will officiate. Burial will follow in Tharp Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on today at the funeral home.

PRAIRIE GROVE — Gletha Deloris (Broner) Guist, 89, of Prairie Grove, Ark., passed into glory Oct. 12, 2013. The daughter of Troy Broner and Sarah (Stillwell) Broner. Born April 2, 1924, in Tahlequah, Okla.

Gletha was married to the love of her life, Jerry Guist, for 63 years. Gletha was employed by the University of Arkansas for 22 years.

Gletha was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, two sisters, eight brothers.

She is survived by four children, Lawrence Guist of Greenland, Ark., Linda Whitener of Janesville, Wis., Jim Guist and Barbara Doss, both of Prairie Grove, Ark.; one brother, Troy Broner of Kimberly, Idaho; six sisters, Mary Lou Bradshaw of Greenland, Ethel Fields of Cave Springs, Alice Bradshaw of Wesley, Ollie Hollowell of Fayetteville, Chris Hutchenson of Centerton and Kathy Kimbrell of Cushing, Okla.; eight grandsons; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Visitation will be today, Oct. 15, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. at Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at the Northeast United Pentecostal Church, 533 E. Appleby Road, Fayetteville, with Pastor Aubrey Baughman officiating. Burial will be in Tharp Cemetery in Fayetteville.
