December 27, 1863 - July 10, 1920
A. S. Killgore, one of the successful lawyers of Magnolia, Ark., and a member of the firm of Killgore & Wallace (these gentlemen having been associated in business since March, 1889), is also editor of the Columbia Record, a nourishing newspaper. He was born in this city in 1863, and is the youngest of three children born to Dr. D. L. and Mary (Pearce) Killgore, a sketch of whom appears in this work. A. S. Killgore attended the public schools of Magnolia, and was also instructed by a private tutor for two years, and at the age of twenty years entered the office of Smead & Wallace of this city, remaining with them as a student of law for two years, entering then the law school of Washington & Lee University of Virginia. In May, 1888, he was admitted to the bar of the State by Chief Justice Cockrell, at Little Rock, and in that city he entered upon his practice, being associated with W. J. Duval for one year. In March, 1889, he formed a partnership with R. M. Wallace, of Magnolia, and here they command a liberal share of public patronage, and constitute one of the leading law firms of Southern Arkansas. They are well known as honorable men, their knowledge of their calling is thorough, and they possess in a more than ordinary degree those attributes which are necessary for a successful career at the bar. They have the reputation of being close students, attend strictly to their business, and both are eloquent and forcible public speakers, and their outlook for the future is exceptionally promising.
