FAYETTEVILLE — C.H. Fitzgerald Jr., 84, of Fayetteville died Thursday, May 12, 2011, at home surrounded by his family. He was born Jan. 24, 1927, in Howell, to Cleveland Hendricks Fitzgerald Sr. and Mary Gertrude James Fintgerald.
He was retired from Service Supply Company, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a 1950 graduate of the University of Arkansas. He was a Baptist. He loved to travel, especially to the places where nature or history was involved. He enjoyed watching Connie and then his grandkids play their various athletic endeavors. He loved hunting and the outdoors and was happiest when sharing the outdoors with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helene Fitzgerald; a son, John Fitzgerald and his wife LuElla of Fayetteville; and a daughter, Connie West and her husband Rick of Fayetteville. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Jordyn West of Dallas, Texas, and Scott Fitzgerald and Colton West, both of Fayetteville. His sister, Pat King of Rogers, is the last of the living siblings. He was preceded in death by seven others: Sam Fitzgerald, Jack Fitzgerald, Mildred Fitzgerald, Willa Mae Kloss, Betty Joe Nowlin, Charles Fitzgerald and Ruth Larker. He is also survived by many nieces nephews and cousins.
Arrangements are under the direction of Beards Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, with the funeral at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 19.
