Dortha Matilda Gross Sloss, age 86, of Perryville, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2008. She was born May 29, 1921 in Lenapha, Nowata County, Oklahoma, to Edgar and Bertha Gross. She lived most of her life In Perry County, Arkansas. She was a nurse, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and member of Thornburg Baptist Church for over 50 years.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Gaylord of Crescent City California; brother, Clarence Gross of Adams, Oregon; three sons, Clyde Durham of Perryville, Jim Durham of Winter Haven, Florida, and Charles "Buddy" Durham of Blue Jay Hollow; seven grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Woodrow, William, Andrew, Nathan, Ralph, and John Ray Gross, and one sister, Margie Hart.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Thornburg Baptist Church with Bro. Jimmy Corder officiating. Burial will be at Thornburg Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Perryville. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, February 29, at the funeral home in Perryville.
