The White River Current, Calico Rock, Arkansas, May 29, 1980:

Orville Herman Browning, son of the late James Richard and Mary Elizabeth Snodgrass Browning, was born June 20, 1917 in Meadow View, Virginia. He died September 24, 1998 in Batesville. He was 81.

Mr. Browning was united in marriage to Viola “Vi” Talby September 11, 1982 in Dolph. He was a career military officer in the United States Air Force attaining the rank of master sergeant. He was of the Baptist faith and a member and deacon of the Melbourne First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two step-daughters, Teri Pachis of Memphis, Tennessee and Debbie Glen of Mountain Home; five sons, William Carson of Baytown, Texas, James Carson of San Antonio, Texas, Nathan Browning of Kileen, Texas, Richard Browning of Lacey Springs, Alabama and Charles Browning of Melbourne; one sister, Pearl Wimmer of Meadow View Virginia; one brother, Sam Browning of Abbingdon, Virginia and numerous grandchildren. He was preceded by his first wife, Laura Browning; his parents, one step-son, Chester Carson and one son, Orville “Butch” Browning, Jr.

Funeral services were held September 28, 1998, at the Melbourne First Baptist Church with Doyne Robertson officiating.

Interment was at Dolph Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
