WYNNE -- Edgar Deward Jones, 89, of Wynne died Tuesday, May 10.

A lifelong resident of Cross County, he served on the Vanndale School Board for five years, was a peach and cotton farmer, had worked as a cotton ginner for Gardner Gin in Vanndale for 12 years and retired from Halstead Industries in Wynne after nine years. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Vanndale.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Elisabeth Hamrick Jones of the home; four sons, Edgar Dale Jones of Vanndale, David Wilson Jones of Wynne, John E. Jones of Russellville and Adrian Clay Jones of Lexington, Mo.; five daughters, Martha Jones Milam and Beth Jones Brooks, both of Cherry Valley, Janice Jones Peterson of Apache Junction, Ariz., Mickie Jones Matthews of Vanndale and Irma Jones Harbour of Maumelle; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian Dale and Mattie Clay Dodson Jones; three brothers; and four sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today in the chapel of Kernodle Funeral Home in Wynne, with burial to follow in Akins Cemetery at Vanndale.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, in care of Monroe Young, 3874 Arkansas 364, Wynne 72396.
