Geraldine Anna Logan Gullett, age 85, died in Perryville, Arkansas, Friday, October 5, 2007 with her husband of 65 years at her side. Geraldine was known as "Jeannie". She was born to Edward Joseph Logan and Lillian Bell Logan on August 10, 1922 in Fishtail, Montana. She grew up and attended school in Columbus, Montana. Upon her high school graduation, she studied in Melrose, Iowa prior to going to Washington D.C., during the early days of World War II where she worked for the State Department. It was in D.C. that she met "the most beautiful man she had ever seen." Jeannie enjoyed going to USO dances, and she said that she completely overlooked that Dale, her handsome sailor, could not dance a single step, because he was, as she always said, "so beautiful." After a very brief courtship, they were married in New York, New York before he shipped out for duty in the North African campaign.
After the War, they lived in Knoxville, Tennessee, where Dale completed his Pre- Med studies, and in little Rock, Arkansas where he graduated from Medical School. Jeannie loved the years they lived in Morrilton, Arkansas where she was a housewife, a mother, and a member of Sacred Heart Church while Dale practiced medicine with the Mobley Clinic. She later lived in Saudi Arabia when Dale practiced medicine with Arabian American Oil Company. In later years, she and Dale returned to Arkansas, and lived for 20 years in Dierks, Arkansas. Most recently, she resided in DeQueen, Arkansas, and Russellville, Arkansas. She is predeceased by her parents, a brother, Luke Logan, who was lost during World War II when his submarine was sunk by the Japanese, and a sister, Bernice Logan Lesnik. She is survived by her husband , Austin Dale Gullett, M.D., three children, Yvonne Driver and her husband Dwight, Bert Gullett and his wife Estelle, and Yvette Williams and her husband Craig, as well as by a special niece , Kathie Dupay, a brother, Ray Logan, and a sister, Clare Smith. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Allison Driver Rule, Joshua Gullett, Ben Gullett, Matt Williams, Ashley Driver, and Brian Williams, one great-grandchild, Lauren Rule, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jeannie was a gentle and loving person. She loved babies and children most of all and was never happier than when her grandchildren arrived or when they visited her as they grew up.
A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, October 8, at the funeral home in Perryville. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morrilton. Private burial will be held at a later date.
