CALICO ROCK--Jack Robert Seay, son of the late Gulley R. Seay and Stella Wayland Seay, was born April 25, 1920, in Pineville. He departed this life Monday, Dec. 26, 2005, in Calico Rock at age 85 years, 8 months and 1 day.

He was united in marriage to Essie Ruth Hicks June 21, 1941, in Pineville. Jack was a cattle farmer. He was 1941 Arkansas State Farmer of the Year and Young Farmers of Arkansas president in 1948. Jack was an airplane flight chief sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. During the Korean War, he was employed by Boeing Aircraft. It was his job to see that planes were properly serviced and maintained. Jack was a member of Wilson-Byler VFW Post in Calico Rock and past member of Calico Rock School Board. He was a member of Pineville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Jack leaves to mourn his passing one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Gary Shue of Fredonia, Kan.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Peggy Seay of Pineville and Kathleen and Jack Burford of Senatobia, Miss.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale and Betty Seay of Houston, Paul Wayne and Sue Seay of Guion, Maurice Seay of Jordan and Norma Seay of Calico Rock; seven grandchildren, G. Scott Shue, Brenda Kay Shue, Sherrill Lynne (Robert) Hawk, Kelli S. (James) Briggs, Laurie S. (Michael) Costlow, John (Unity) Seay, and Sarah S. Franks; seven great-grandchildren; three caretakers who were faithfully committed to loving and taking care of him, Loretta Figueroa, Larry Stapleton and Connie Baker; and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sons, William Robert Seay and James Marion Seay; and one brother, Glenn Harold Seay.

A funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Calico Rock Funeral Chapel with Wayne Wood and Paul DuBose officiating. Burial will be at Pineville Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be John William Seay, Willis Hankins, Dwight Wayland, Mike Seay, David Seay and Mark Seay.
