Jovanna Nella Cortese of Little Italy, went to be with her Lord, Thursday, November 17, 2005 at 92 years young. Born February 13, 1913, she was the second child of eight children born to Bortolo and Maria DiRossi Balsam in Crystal Falls, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bob; six brothers; and her granddaughter Brenda.
She is survived by her three children, Marianne and John Langston, JoAnn and Al Janssen, Robert and Kathy Cortese; her grandchildren, Cheryl and Jim Hiller, Norma Giocondi, Johnie Langston Jr., David and Denise Peterson, Judy and Bill Ford, Debbie Cortese, Robert Cortese Jr.; great grandchildren, Michele Jr., Robert John and Joseph Shilney, Jillian Hiller, David Giocondi Jr., Tabitha Nicole Peterson, Andrew Ford and Robert Avington Cortese; one sister, Catherine Siegman; three sisters-in-law, Teresa Cortese, Venera Balsam and Mary Balsam; and many nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be held at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home (501-224-8300), Sunday, November 20 at 5:00 P.M. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, November 21, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Little Italy. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis Church.
Pallbearers will be Robert Cortese Sr., Robert Cortese Jr. Robert Avington Cortese, David Peterson, Johnie Langston Jr., Chris Dorer. Honorary pallbearers will be John Langston Sr., Al Janssen, Bill Ford, Bob Dorer Sr., Bob Dorer Jr., Joe Dorer and Thomas Dorer.
