Wm. H. Wayland Dies Here Tuesday Morning

William H. Wayland, aged 58, a native of this vicinity and for the past several months local manager for the United Farm Agency, died at his home here, Tuesday morning following a brief illness.

Mr. Wayland had been feeling as well as usual until Sunday morning when he suffered a stroke as he was driving a cow from the pasture near his home. He failed to rally from the stroke and continues worse until his death. His unexpected illness and death was a shock to everyone.

Mr. Wayland was born and reared near Cross Roads and nearly all of his life was spent in this locality. He was engaged at farming for a number of years and later engaged in the mercantile business here. He had the Mtn. Home-Cotter mail contract several years. He moved to his farm five miles north of here five or six years ago, where he resided until he moved back to town to take charge of the United agency, which business he carried on successfully until he was stricken.

Deceased was well known in this section and made many friends. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church of this place.

Surviving, are his wife; his mother, Mrs. Ella Wayland, of Calico Rock; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Lane of Wild Cherry, Ark., Mrs. Arra Davis of Oxford, Ark., and Mrs. Minnie Drown of Oklahoma City, Okla., and six brothers, S. F. Wayland of Wild Cherry, M. F., R. F., C. C. and R. L. Wayland of Tulsa, Okla., and O. E. Wayland of Oklahoma City, Okla., A nephew, Laverne Wayland of the Army, San Diego, Calif., who was reared to manhood in the home of the deceased, also survives.

The funeral was held Sunday at 10:30 a.m., at the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Pineville, services being in charge of Rev J. C. Wilcox. Burial was at Pineville.
