CALICO ROCK--James "Jack" Burford, son of the late Lee Burford and Annie House Burford, was born July 23, 1919, in Senatobia, Miss. He departed this life on April 1, 2007, in Senatobia at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 11 days. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Seay on Aug. 28, 1963. During his working years, he was a librarian at Jeff Davis Junior College in Gulfport, Miss., retiring after more than 30 years of employment. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
Jack leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 43 years, Kathleen Burford of Senatobia; one brother, Lee House Burford of Senatobia; three brothers-in-law, Dale Seay of Houston, Paul Seay of Guion and Maurice Seay of Jordan; one sister-in-law, Susan Seay of Pineville; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Burford and his twin sister, Vernice Burford.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 5 at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock with Wayne Wood officiating. Burial was at Pineville Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock.
Pallbearers were Mike Seay, Mark Seay, Dwight Wayland, Ronald Drown, Junior Owens and Jay Dixon.
