Prentis A. Pepper, 53, Rt. 2, of El Dorado died Sunday near his home. Born July 30, 1916, in Union County, the son of James and Jane Williams Pepper. He was an electrician, veteran of World War II and a deacon at Mount Union Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Pauline Williams Pepper; two sons, Toney P. Pepper and Bruce Edward Pepper, both of El Dorado; two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Hall and Mrs. Carol McDonald, both of El Dorado; five brothers, Frank Pepper, Curtis Pepper, and Ralph Pepper, all of El Dorado, James Pepper, Lisbon, La., and Clyde Pepper, Little Rock; three sisters, Mrs. Inez Nash and Mrs. Joe Sewell, both of El Dorado, Mrs. W. D. Jeffcoats, Simsboro, La.; and four grandchildren. He was a teacher in the adult Sunday School Class and was a Mason. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Mt. Union Baptist Church with the Rev. C. W. Hornaday officiating. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Active pallbearers will be Nile Smith, Elvin Lewis, Lloyd Wood, Leon Smith, Lavelle Peace and Lyman Watkins. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of the Mt. Union Baptist Church and members of Local No. 436 of IBEW. The body was taken to the Pepper residence Monday afternoon and will remain there until time for final rites. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Union Baptist Church building fund. (El Dorado Times - March 9, 1970)
