PINEVILLE — David Paul Schinkal, 64, of Pineville died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at his home.
Born March 15, 1943, in Cincinnati, he was the son of Paul Schinkal and Nadine Graf. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was united in marriage to Gloria Bickell on Jan. 17, 1962, in Austin, Texas. He was employed by Sherwood Police Department, retiring after 20 years of service.
He was active in service organizations, serving as a past Master Mason of the Acacia Lodge No. 625; past patron of the Guiding Star Chapter No. 588; and a member of Pineville Fire Department. He was of the Presbyterian faith and was a member of Calico Rock Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Gloria Schinkal; a son, Mark Mitchell of Midland, Texas; three daughters, Cheri Porter of Midland, Texas, Kim Mitchusson of Wynne and Lisa Harness of Austin; his father of Cincinnati; his mother of Sherwood; his stepfather, Gus Graf of Sherwood; his stepmother, Patty Schinkal of Cincinnati; three brothers, Steve Schinkal, Chuck Schinkal and William Schinkal, all of Cincinnati; two sisters, Paulette Corbett and Barb Schuermann, both of Cincinnati; 10 grandchildren, Mark Mitchell Jr., Michael Porter, Aaron Porter, Caitlin Porter, Zachary Johnson, Todd Johnson, Mitchell Mitchusson, Amber Patterson, Whitney Harness and Joshua Harness; three great grandchildren, Madelyn Porter, Caleb Mitchell and Layla Porter; and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Denny Schinkal; and his grandparents, Clyde and Anna Hendrickson and Edward and Emma Schinkal.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Calico Rock Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Wayne Wood officiating. Burial will be at Pineville Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home of Calico Rock.
Pallbearers will be members of Pineville Volunteer Fire Department and Sherwood Police Department.
Honorary pallbearer is "Cricket" Ketron.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials may be made to Izard County Hospice or Community Medical Center Hospice.
