White River Currant, Calico Rock, Arkansas:

Joseph Richard Saltmeris of Pineville, was born January 6, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois. He died Monday, February 10, 1992 at the V.A. Hospital in Little Rock at the age of 76.

Joseph was married to Anna Techla Vaitekunas. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Darius-Girenas Post 271 of the American Legion. He was a dispatcher for the Cook County Sheriff’s office.

Survivors include his wife, Anna of Pineville; two step-daughters, Deloris Clark of Countryside, Illinois, and Petronella Grigiski of Cape Coral, Florida; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Services were held Thursday, February 13 at 2 p.m. at the Howard Chapel in Calico Rock, with Charles Faith officiating. Burial was in the Pineville Cemetery in Pineville, under the direction of the Howard Funeral Home in Calico Rock.
