John Grady Hampton, age 65, of Route 1, Thornton died at his home Monday. He was a deacon in the Harmony Baptist church and a Mason. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ivy Mae Hampton of Thornton; two sons Melvin Hampton of Griffith, Indiana, Donald Hampton of Aberdeen, Maryland; one daughter Mrs. Raymond Hughes of Bearden; one brother, Charles Hampton of Capitola, Calif., and one sister of Memphis, Tenn. and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Camden Funeral Chapel at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Callaway Cemetery South of Thornton. (Camden News - June 29, 1971)
