Obituary for Nina Jackson:

Nina Jackson, 81, of Franklin died Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, in a Batesville hospital.

Born Feb. 2, 1927, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Claude and Maude Royals Gaston. She was married to Gerald Darius Jackson Feb. 7, 1948, at Mammoth Spring. She attended Arkansas College (now Lyon College) in Batesville. She was a homemaker and a member of Franklin Baptist Church for 70 years, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Her favorite music was gospel. Her hobbies included reading and playing the piano.

Survivors include her husband; a nephew, Greg Jackson of Salem; and two nieces, Donna Wainright of Winchester, Ky., and Karen Sholes of West Plains, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Tracy Lee Simpson.

The funeral was Sunday at the Franklin Baptist Church with Robert Norton and Alvin Wiles officiating. Burial was at Violet Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Donald Hastings, Tom Bailey, Bill Yancey, Kirby Billingsley, Jerry Guthrie and Bill Blevins.
