Born in Delaware County, Ohio and died in Cushman, Independence County, Arkansas. Son of Rev Grove Meeker, Jr and Phebe Ann Payne Meeker. Husband of Caroline McCoy Meeker and Matilda Caroline Brightwell Meeker. Children: Nettie Florence Meeker Wren and Hiram Henry Meeker.

Was a Sargent, Company C, 2nd Regiment, Arkansas Cavalry, in Civil War. Enlisted Jan 1, 1863 at Houston, MO for 3 years by a Lt. William F. Orr. Wounded March 23, 1864 and discharged at Springfield, MO on June 4, 1864 for disability contracted in line of duty.

This is a government mistake. He fought for
the Union and was in the Union Army. As you can
see the USA on the gravestone.
