When Thomas Jefferson Wharton was born on February 27, 1832, in Georgia, his father, Thomas, was 31 and his mother, Sarah, was 29. He married Ruth Evaline Coleman on July 26, 1855, in St Clair, Alabama. They had eight children in 15 years. He died on November 16, 1908, in Pope, Arkansas, having lived a long life of 76 years, and was buried in Atkins, Arkansas.
