Herbert L. Elmore, 83, of Arkadelphia, formerly of Hot Springs, died Sunday, January 4, 2009 in Arkadelphia. Born October 17, 1925 in Prescott, Arkansas, to Levi Jefferson and Etta Andrews Elmore, he was retired military, serving 24 years. Service included Asian Pacific, Germany, Korea, Japan and Viet Nam.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, June Ellen and Robert Anthony of Arkadelphia and Margaret Annette Johns of Hot Springs; two sisters, Marie McNeely of Arkadelphia and Jeanie Kinsey of Hudson, Kentucky; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Memorial Gardens with Reverend Greg Latham officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Third Street Baptist Church, 3rd and Crawford, Arkadelphia, AR 71923, or the Clark County Humane Society in Arkadelphia.
Gross Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
