Thomas Alan Jacoway, 53, of Springdale died Jan. 9, 2000, at his home. He was born May 11, 1946, in Nassawadox, Va., to Thomas Harrison and Gladys Gardner Jacoway.

He was a member and reserve deacon at University Baptist Church in Fayetteville and was a counselor with UBC's Second Mile Ministries. He taught Sunday school for 12 years.

He was also a member of the Arkansas State Bar and Washington County Bar, served on the board of directors at the Arts Center of the Ozarks, Springdale Country Club, Ozark Guidance Center and was a past president of Springdale Rotary.

He was a Paul Harris Fellow and served on the board of directors of the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund. He served as delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business in 1995; was a delegate to the Arkansas State Constitutional Revision Convention in 1978-79; served as Springdale city attorney from 1974-79; was CEO of Artra Inc.; a founding partner of Jacoway Law Firm; a visiting professor at the University of Arkansas College of Business, where he taught strategic management and was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi and Scabbard and Blade and was named a distinguished military student.

He was a charter member of Omicron Delta Kappa and a graduate of the UA School of Law, where he was on the Law Review staff and won the moot-court competition.
