Services For Mrs. Powell Held Sunday
Claris Lola Sellars was born April 13, 1911 at Violet Hill, Ark., and departed this life July 6, 1956 at the age of 45 years, 2 months 23 days.
On January 7, 1934 she was united in marriage to Cecil Powell. To this union were born three children, two daughters and one son, one infant who preceded her in death, John William and Doris Ann Powell, both of the home.
She leaves behind to mourn her going, her husband and two children: her parents, Mr and Mrs John Sellars of Violet Hill, Ark.; two sisters, Mrs. Claude Bookout of Wiseman, Ark.; and Mrs. Truman Powell of Wichita, Kan.; one brother, Cleo Sellars of Violet Hill, Ark.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She professed faith in Christ at an early age and joined the Baptist Church.
Mrs Powell's death was unexpected. She had recently undergone major surgery and was thought to be on her way to recovery.
Funeral services were held Sunday July 8 at 2 p.m. at the Baptist Church at Violet Hill with Rev. Light of Mtn. Grove, Mo., officiating. Casket bearers were Lex Walker, Brien Pogue, Jewell Shelton, Rubel Smith, Clifton Bookout, and Stanley Sellars. Burial was made in Violet Hill Cemetery under direction of the Hall Funeral Home.
