Elija Bascum Buchanan, 66, died in a Batesville Hospital Saturday. He had been in ill health for the past few months.

Mr. Buchanan was born in Tennessee, but moved to Arkansas at an early age. He moved to Melbourne from near Violet Hill two years ago. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
