Marks' Mills Battlefield Cemetery
Cleveland County,
Arkansas

In the spring of 1864 one of three major battles fought in Arkansas occurred in this area. John H Marks owned a flour and a saw mill and the battle was fought almost in his front yard. The Confederate forces surprised a Yankee supply train and captured 2000 men and 240 wagons full of supplies. It was a complete victory for the CSA.
