Joseph Henry "Doc" Duffell was born in KY to Ennis and Martha (Wallace) Duffell. He was called Doc because he did some veterinary work and doctored humans once in a while too. In 1857 he married Susan Jane Wallace. She died in 1908 of pneumonia and was buried on the family homestead. Joseph died 1909 and is buried next to her. Descendents later came and added the military stone.
Joseph and Susan had four children: William (1858), Jasper Edward (17 Apr 1872), Joseph Green (1876) and Lula.

Lula (Aug 1878) married Wiley Van Hall and had four children. The fourth child, Lena Roxie, died at birth and Lula died also from complications. They are buried at the feet of Susan Duffell. This was in Feb 1910. The family originally meant for the cemetery to be 4 acres, but it ended up being only these four burials plus possibly an infant born to Jasper in 1909.
