Bennie P. Battles, 69, of Conway, died Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2003).

Born April 12, 1933, in Guy, he was the son of the late Frank and Choice Baker Battles.


Battles was a retired supervisor at the University of Central Arkansas and a 32nd degree Mason.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, J.W. Battles; and two sisters, Lois Mills, and Delsa Francis.

Survivors include his wife, Reva Battles of Conway; two sons, Benny Battles of Conway and Bruce Battles of Castalian Springs, Tenn.; one brother, Bobby Battles of Conway; four sisters, Myrtle Hutchins of Conway, Bronnie Ingram of Conway, Willie Pearson of Conway and Frankie Battles of Guy; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Roller-McNutt Chapel, Conway with the Rev. George Andrews and the Rev. William West officiating.

Pallbearers are Arch Bradley, Ralph Screeton, Bill Thessing, Paul Burnett, Monte Matthews, Bob Berry, Jerry Case, Randy Nokes, Mark Ledbetter and Greg Fiddler.

Entombment will be at Crestlawn Memorial Park, Conway.

Visitation is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the local police and fire unions.

Reva Thomas Battles, 74, of Greenbrier died Friday, July 16, 2010. She was born Aug. 25, 1935 in Greenbrier to the late John Doyle Thomas and Ava Gladys Gray. She was the widow of Bennie P. Battles and a retired school teacher/counselor.

She is survived by two sons, Benny Battles and wife Patty of Greenbrier and Dr. Andrew Bruce Battles of Franklin, Ky.; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Cooper of Melbourne, Rebecca Sindle of Conway, Ethan Battles and Wesley Battles both of Castalian Springs, Tenn.; one great-grandson, Lane Thomas Cooper and her dear friend, Jesse Clark.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Conway with Entombment in Crestlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
