PARAGOULD -- Dr. George Hobby, 60, of Paragould died Tuesday, May 25, at his residence.

Born in Livingston, North Rhodesia, now Zambia, he served in the Navy from 1969-1974, was a 1961 graduate of Harding University and a graduate of the University of Arkansas medical school. He practiced family medicine in Paragould from 1977-1998, at which time he joined the Family Medical Center in Corning, where he worked until February 2004. He was a member and elder at Hillcrest Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Priscilla Baker Hobby; two sons, Christopher Hobby of Siloam Springs and Jonathan Hobby of Jonesboro; his mother, Georgia Pruett Hobby of Searcy; two brothers, David Hobby of Arlington, Texas, and Dr. Kenneth Hobby of Searcy; a sister, Dr. Anita Mitchell of Monroe, La.; and five grandchildren, Hayden Hobby, Zachary Hobby and Maggie Hobby, all of Siloam Springs, and Michael Hobby and Sarah Hobby, both of Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Hobby, and one brother.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with Adam Broom and Dennis Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery at Paragould.

Active pallbearers will be Perry Baker, Aaron Coleman, Jeff Combs, Chuck Conley, Todd Garnett and Don Wilcox.

Honorary pallbearers will include the elders of Hillcrest Church of Christ, Harrell Austin, Larry Brinkley, Frank Gatlin and Boyd Leath.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Children's Home Inc. of Paragould or to the Zambian Mission Fund, 3103 East Memorial Road, Edmond, Okla. 73013.
